Some of the more famous examples of computer-aided work are the identification of so many of the dwarf planets in recent years. Computers identified objects moving through different exposures of the same part of the sky taken at different times. The computer then signals human operators who will take over at that point.

Naturally, software can perform more mundane tasks such as calculating life insurance quotes. However, many people have astronomy programs running on their home computer to show them the night skies outside on a particular day of the year. Astronomy programs also run in planetariums all over the world. There have been a multitude of other types of software which have directly benefited from astrological research and software. Software and astronomy will continue to evolve as our knowledge of the universe continues.
